Packers’ Crosby keeps making his points

The good news in the Packers’ opening game loss to Minnesota?
Mason Crosby scored a point
Looking at the statistical game summary from the Packers 23-7 opening game loss to the Minnesota Vikings, you would have to look long and hard to find any positive numbers from that contest. Well, let me give you one stat that you might not know:
With a successful extra point on the Pack’s lone TD of the game, placekicker Mason Crosby scored a point in his 237th game in his NFL career. Crosby has been the Packers placekicker every year since 2007 and at age 38 this is his 16th season with the team.
Crosby has scored at least one point in 237 of the 242 regular season games he has played (the Packers have been shutout three times in Crosby’s career; twice they only scored eight points and Crosby did not score in the game. The last time he did not score in a game was November 24, 2019, when the Packers lost to the 49ers, 37-8).
With at least one point in 237 NFL regular season games, Crosby is 20th on the NFL’s all-time list. Topping the list is Morten Andersen who scored at least one point in 375 NFL regular season games; he is followed by Adam Vinatieri with 361 games. Crosby is one of two active kickers in the Top 20 in this statistical category; the 49ers Robbie Gould has scored a point in 248 games and ranks 14th on the list.
The Packers have 16 more games this season and if Crosby stays healthy and/or remains the Packers’ kicker, he has the potential to climb the list into the Top 15. Pat Leahy is 19th at 238 games followed by former Packers’ kicker Ryan Longwell and Matt Bryant tied for 17th at 239. Another former Green Bay kicker, Al Del Greco, is 16th on the list with 242 games and former Lions kicker Eddie Murray is 15th with 245 games with at least one point.
Obviously, Crosby tops the Packers list with his 237 games with at least one point. The aforementioned Longwell, who spent nine seasons as the Pack’s placekicker from 1997-2005, scored at least one point in 144 games for the Packers. Third on the Packers list is Chris Jacke with 122 games followed Chester Marcol (95 games), Paul Hornung (61 games) and a tie at sixth between with Donald Driver and James Taylor (each with 59 games with at least one point scored for the Packers).
In case you were wondering:
• The most points scored by Crosby in a regular season game is 17. He did that on September 16, 2018, in a 29-29 tie versus the Vikings.
• Crosby has played in 23 playoff games and has scored at least one point in each of those games. His playoff high in points? Sixteen in a 22-28 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on January 18, 2015.
• Crosby’s 23 playoff games with at least one point scored ranks him 4th on the all-time NFL list. Vinatieri has scored in 32 playoff games to top the list. He is followed by Stephen Gostkowski (29 games), David Akers (24 games) and Crosby with 23 games.
