Darnell Savage, Davante Adams have memorable games

By JERRY TAPP

Here are some of the numbers that helped define the Packers 41-25 win over the Chicago Bears in Green Bay on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

•    Davante Adams had six catches in the game giving him 505 for his career with the Packers. He became the fifth Packers player to reach 500 career receptions with the team joining Donald Driver, Sterling Sharpe, Jordy Nelson and James Lofton. What makes the achievement even more noteworthy is that the Packers are only the third franchise in NFL history to have five players with 500 or more career catches with a team. The others: New England and the L.A. Chargers.
•    Aaron Rodgers had 211 yards passing in the game pushing him above the 50,000 yards passing for a career. He became on the 11th player in NFL history to reach the 50,000 passing yards mark in a career. You might have found it hard to imagine that Rodgers would’ve reached 50,000 yards passing in his career after sitting on the bench as Brett Favre’s backup his first three years in the league. It’s interesting to note that of the 11 players who have reached 50,000 yards passing, Rodgers is the only one who had less than 1,000 yards passing after three seasons in the league. After his first three seasons in the league (2005-07), Rodgers had accumulated a grand total of 329 yards passing. The only other member of this club who had less than 5,000 yards passing after his first three years in the league was Philip Rivers who had 3,536 yards passing after his first three season in the NFL.
•    The Packers have now won four of their last five home games in November.
•    Since the 2010 season, the Packers have gone 17-4 versus the Bears. Two of those losses came in Green Bay, two in Chicago. The win over the Bears was the Packers 100th in the series (regular season and playoffs). The Bears have won 95 and the two teams have tied six times.
•    The Packers are 7-9 since the 2015 season in Sunday night games, but since 2010, the team is 9-1 in Sunday night games played at Lambeau Field.
•    Green Bay has won nine of their last 10 games against divisional opponents (Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota).
•    Adams tied the team record with a TD reception in his sixth straight game.
•    Adams has now amassed 900 or more yards receiving in four seasons with the Pack. The leader in this category is Donald Driver who had seven seasons with the teams with 900 or more yards receiving.
•    Darnell Savage (pictured above) had a pair of interceptions for the Packers, the first multi-interception game of his career. The last Packers player to have two or more interceptions in a game was Ha Ha Clinton-Dix on December 18, 2016 also against the Bears.
•    Preston Smith had received a lot of criticism for his less-than-stellar play, but he atoned for those negative remarks with a full stat line on Sunday. Smith a sack and fumble recovery for TD. He became the first Packers player since Dean Lowry (December 3, 2017) to have a sack, fumble recovery and TD in the same game.
•    Green Bay had three takeaways in the game. They have now won 17 of their last 18 games when they have three or more takeaways in a contest.
•    The team did not have a turnover in the game for the seventh time this season in 11 games. They have now won 10 straight games when they do not have a turnover in the game.
•    The Packers held a 27-10 lead at halftime. They have now won 59 straight games at home when they have a lead of 17 points or more. The only home game they have lost when they had a lead of 17 points or more was in 1957.
•    The Packers offense ran the ball 39 times for 182 yards. They are 28-5-1 since 2000 when they have 180 or more rushing yards in a game. They have won seven of their last eight games when they gain 180 or more yards on the ground in a contest.
•    Rodgers had four TD passes. Green Bay is 25-3 in games when Rodgers has four or more TD passes.
•    Rodgers had 211 yards passing to go along with his four TD passes. It was the second fewest passing yards in a game where he had four or more TD passes. Back on September 28, 2017, he had four TD passes and only 179 yards passing in a 35-14 win over the Bears at Lambeau Field.
•    Jamaal Williams had a TD run in the game. The team has won its last four games when Williams has a TD run.
•    The Pack’s offensive line did not allow a sack in the game, the third time this season. The last time they did not allow a sack in three games in a season was in 2010. The team has now won nine straight when they do not allow a sack.
•    Aaron Jones had 17 carries for 90 yards and Jamaal Williams had 17 carries for 73 yards. The last time the Packers had two running backs total 70 yards rushing in a game was December 13, 2015 when Eddie Lacy ran for 124 yards and James Starks had 71 in a game versus the Dallas Cowboys. The last time they had two running backs each carry the ball 17 times or more in a game was all the way back on December 12, 1993 when Edgar Bennett had 18 carries and Darrell Thompson had 17 carries in a game versus the San Diego Chargers.
•    Rodgers had a Passer Rating of 132.3 in the game, the highest Passer Rating against the Bears since September 13, 2015 when he had a 140.5 Passer Rating against the Bears in a 31-23 win.
•    The Packers dominated in the time of possession with 37:44 TOP. Since 2010, the Packers are 14-1 when they have 37:00 or more time of possession in a non-overtime game.
