Terry Delivers Early Christmas Present To Bucks Fans
Jason Terry has his own personal rule when it comes to his signature “Jet’’ celebration.
“I have to make three 3s before I bring the ‘Jet’ out,’’ the Milwaukee Bucks veteran guard said. “You just don’t pull out the ‘Jet’ for mediocrity.’’
But Terry made an exception to his rule on Friday night when the Bucks played the Washington Wizards at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
After making his second trey, Terry sprinted down the court, bent over with his arms spread wide apart, bringing the revved-up BC crowd to its feet.
So, what prompted Terry to bring the “Jet’’ out of the hangar early?
“Before the game, there was a little girl in the stands,’’ Terry explained. “She said, ‘Could you please do the ‘Jet’ for a Christmas present for me? And I said, ‘That’s the least I can do.’
“So, I brought out the ‘jet’ early. It was a Christmas present for her.’’
Vaughn sidelined
Rashad Vaughn missed Friday night’s game against the Wizards after spraining an ankle in practice the day before.
Vaughn, the Bucks’ first-round selection in the 2015 draft, said he will probably be missing quite a few more games because of the setback.
“I think it’s going to be a couple of weeks,’’ Vaughn said.
Curious George
Former Bucks coach George Karl, whose forthcoming book — Furious George: My Forty Years Surviving NBA Divas, Clueless GMs, and Poor Shot Selection – has already created a furor, was in Milwaukee for a few days.
Karl attended a Bucks’ practice, spent time chatting with the Bucks and Wizards coaching staffs and then attended the Bucks-Wizards game.
Quick hits
— The Bucks’ dynamic duo of Jabari Parker and Giannis Antetokounmpo is on fire: In the last 10 games, Antetokounmpo has averaged 25.3 points and Parker has averaged 23. Lest you forgot, Antetokounmpo is 22 and Parker is 21.
— A league executive told me over the weekend the Bucks are still looking to trade veteran center Greg Monroe.
Monroe is currently backing up John Henson and is playing well. He’s the team’s third-leading scorer at 9.3 points and grabbing 6.8 rebounds despite averaging only 19.3 minutes.
Monroe is being paid $17.14 million this season and has an opt-out clause in his contract after this season. If he opts in, the Bucks would be obligated to pay him $17.88M next season.
