Rodgers & Co. will soar against Eagles

By DAN ZIELINSKI

The Green Bay Packers are in the hunt for the top seed in the NFC, sitting with an 8-3 record. They trail the New Orleans Saints by one game but have a favorable schedule the remainder of the regular season.

On Sunday, the Packers face the lousy Philadelphia Eagles (3-7-1) at Lambeau Field.

The Eagles are desperate for a win after dropping their last three games. Quarterback Carson Wentz, the seventh-highest paid player in the NFL, has looked terrible this season and in no way has lived up to the four-year, $128 million extension he signed in 2019. He has weapons around him but has been inefficient while throwing nearly as many interceptions (15) as touchdowns (16).

If the Eagles want to defeat the Packers, Wentz will have to make plays in the air. Running back Miles Sanders is a threat in the running game but expect the Packers to stack the box and force the Eagles to throw the ball.

The Eagles’ defense has been susceptible against quality offenses. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is playing at an MVP level, completing 68.5% of his passes for 3,100 yards and 33 touchdowns. He has thrown just four interceptions. Don’t expect a drop off in performance from Rodgers against the Eagles.

The Packers are thriving this season, even though at times it hasn’t always looked pretty. I don’t expect them to stumble against the Eagles.

Prediction: Packers 31, Eagles 17
