Zielinski: Struggling Packers will be just good enough to beat 49ers
By DAN ZIELINSKI
Green Bay is coming off an ugly 31-23 loss to the Detroit Lions on Oct. 7. The Lions outplayed the Packers in all three phases and were never in jeopardy of losing the contest.
Despite their recent struggles, the Packers have a favorable matchup tonight. They welcome the disappointing San Francisco 49ers to Lambeau Field. The 49ers have dropped three straight games and are without starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who suffered a torn ACL against Kansas City in Week 3.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn’t looked sharp in recent weeks. Kicker Mason Crosby couldn’t split the uprights against the Lions. And the defense is still a train wreck with no edge rush and a lack of consistency out of the secondary.
Tonight’s game won’t be pretty. But despite the team’s flaws, the Packers will find a way to prevail against the 49ers on their home turf.
Prediction: Packers 24, 49ers 17
