Aaron Rodgers relinquishes stake in Bucks’ ownership

Aaron Rodgers isn’t likely to be sitting courtside at any Milwaukee Bucks home games in the near future.
At least, not as a limited partner of the NBA team.
According to sources, Rodgers, a sure-fire NFL Hall of Famer, has relinquished his limited ownership stake with the Bucks.
Rodgers bought into the Bucks ownership group in 2018. At that time, a high-ranking official in the Bucks organization told me Rodgers bought less “less than one percent, like eight-10th of one percent,’’ the source said.
Rodgers, who played for Green Bay from 2005-2022 and led the Packers to a Super Bowl victory in 2011, is an ardent NBA fan. He frequently attended Bucks home games, usually sitting courtside.
When Rodgers became a Bucks minority owner, he said it was “a dream come true.’’
Sources said Rodgers, who currently plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, sold his Bucks’ stake to Jimmy Haslam, one of the Bucks’ majority owners.
The Bucks’ other majority owners are Wes Edens and Jamie Dinan. Edens, Dinan and Marc Lasry purchased the Bucks from Herb Kohl in 2014. Haslam joined the Bucks in April of 2023 when he reportedly acquired a 25 percent stake from Lasry.
The acquisition of Rodgers’ share in the Bucks is part of Haslam’s desire to become the primary owner of the team, sources said. Haslam, who also owns the Cleveland Browns of the NFL, was recently listed as one of Forbes’ 400 wealthiest people in the United States.
Forbes ranked Haslam No. 114. Forbes listed his net worth at $12.2 billion.
The Bucks’ valuation is reportedly $4.3 billion.
Rodgers was believed to be the only NFL active player to be a limited owner of an NBA franchise.
