Zielinski: Packers will capitalize on Vikings’ problems

By DAN ZIELINSKI

The Green Bay Packers have a prime opportunity to seize control of the NFC North as they begin a three-game stretch against division opponents Sunday at Lambeau Field. Green Bay, 6-3-1, will face a Minnesota Vikings team that has lost two straight and sits at the bottom of the division.

The matchup will hinge on whether the Packers can pressure Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who has struggled with turnovers, accuracy and handling pressure through five starts. After dropping several potential interceptions last week, Jeff Hafley’s defense will look to capitalize on McCarthy’s mistakes

Quarterback Jordan Love must also navigate Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ aggressive blitz packages, which have caused problems for him in previous meetings. The Packers will need to avoid the costly drops that stalled multiple drives in last week’s win over the Giant

With the defensive edge and McCarthy’s inconsistency, the Packers are in a position to continue their winning ways.

WHAT THE ODDSMAKERS ARE SAYING: Packers are 6.5-point favorites.

DZ’S PREDICTION: Packers 24, Vikings 13.
