Packers poised to beat the odds … Titans

By GERY WOELFEL

The Packers are in a situation similar to last week: They’ll be going into their matchup with the Tennessee Titans as underdogs.

The oddsmakers have pegged the Titans as 2.5-point favorites. They undoubtedly made the Titans the favorites for two reasons: It is a home game for the Titans and the Packers could be without injured star quarterback Jordan Love.

But whether the Packers have Love in their starting lineup or not, they should still be the favorites. They are simply a vastly superior team with superior talent on both sides of the ball.

And have the oddsmakers forgot that the Titans’ quarterback is Will Levis? He is among the worst QBs in the league. Some might argue he is the worst.

In any event, Levis figures to be even less of a threat than Indianapolis’ Anthony Richardson was against the Packers last Sunday. And Richardson was virtually a non-factor.

In two games this season, Levis has completed just 63 percent of his passes. He has thrown more interceptions (3) than touchdowns (2).

What’s more, Levis has been under constant pressure. He’s already been sacked seven times. Only four other quarterbacks have been sacked more times.

While Levis is a pedestrian quarterback, and that’s being charitable, the Titans’ other skilled positions are hardly elite.

Tony Pollard is the Titans’ primary running back. He’s good but hardly great. Ditto for the Titans’ receiving corps, led by Calvin Ridley.

If the Packers play to their capabilities and don’t make any bone-head mistakes, they should comfortably beat the spread and … the Titans.

Prediction: Packers 20, Titans 17.
