Packers offense could run roughshod over Giants

By GERY WOELFEL

The Green Bay Packers and New York Giants are on a roll.

The surging Packers have reeled off three straight victories and the Giants have mounted back-to-back triumphs.

There’s one huger difference, though:

The Packers beat three quality teams: the Chargers, Lions and  reigning Super Bowl champion 49ers.

And the Giants?

They beat two of the dregs of the NFL: They defeated the Redskins, who are 4-9, which is the third-worst record in the NFC, and the Patriots, who are 3-10, which is the worst record in the AFC.

In reality, the Giants are an abysmal team. They have been smoked on several occasions this season, most notably twice by the Cowboys.

The Cowboys trounced the Giants 40-0in the season opener. Then, last month, the Cowboys annihilated the Giants 49-17.

I’m not saying the Packers’ offense equates to the Cowboys’, but it is becoming pretty explosive. The Packers racked up 29 points against a well-regarded Lions defense. They then ran up 27 points against the Chiefs, another well-regarded defense.

If the Packers play a relatively turnover-free game, if Jordan Love stays hot – he’s thrown eight touchdown passes with no interceptions in his last three games – Matt LaFleur’s crew will spank the Giants almost as badly as the Cowboys did.

Prediction: Packers 34, Giants 13.
