Packers Will Recapture Their Mojo Today
The injury-ravaged Packers are dearly the underdogs in today’s game against the Redskins.
But that doesn’t mean they can’t pull off an upset on the road. In fact, I contend the Packers have a reasonably good chance to snap their three-game losing streak and begin their playoff run.
As their 5-3-1 record indicates, the Redskins are far from a dangerous outfit. Four of their Ws were by a touchdown or less. Their sole blowout came against – surprise, surprise – the Cleveland Browns.
The key for the Packers is simple: keep Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins in check. Cousins can be erratic, looking ho-hum in some games, and he can brilliant in others (457 yards vs. Cincinnati). He’s thrown 14 touchdown passes, been picked off seven times. Not exactly hall of fame numbers.
With the expected return of outside linebacker Clay Matthews, the Packers could make Cousins look like the ordinary quarterback he is and the Redskins look like the ordinary team they are.
Prediction: Packers 31, Redskins 24.
