It should be a lovely day for Packers at frigid Lambeau Field

Put yourself in the shoes of the Chicago Bears.

You have had a disastrous season, one in which you’ve won a measly three games and are currently on a 10-game losing streak.

And, on Sunday, you have to labor in Green Bay, against the Packers where, at kickoff, the temperature is projected to be a bone-chilling 18 degrees.

If you’re a Chicago Bear, knowing your season was over a long time ago and knowing that in a few days you could be kicking back on a beach in some exotic locale, would you be fired up about going to work?

Of course, not.

It’s one of the principal reasons the Packers, if they come out laser-focused, could deliver an early knockout and put the Bears’ out of their miseries.

On paper, at least, that is a viable scenario. After all, the Packers have one of the most potent offenses in the NFL and the Bears have one of the most inept defenses.

Just take a gander at the Bears’ last six games. In that forgettable stretch for them, they surrendered an ungodly 30 or more points in four of them. That included a game against the 49ers – who have already been eliminated from playoff contention – in which the Bears gave up 38 points.

Jordan Love & Co. shouldn’t have too much trouble matching, or even surpassing, that total if they come close to playing up to their capabilities.

The Packers have scored at least 30 points in five of their last six games and against several teams vastly superior to the Bears like the Seahawks and Dolphins and Lions.

If things go accordingly, the Packers figure to cover the 10-point spread and cover it easily.

Prediction: Packers 34, Bears 20.
