Packers, McManus will give Seahawks the boot
By GERY WOELFEL
Something has to give.
When the Packers play the Seahawks tonight in Seattle, it’ll be one team with a white-hot offense – the Packers – taking on a team with a white-hot defense – the Seahawks.
Which unit prevails will likely determine which team prevails and which team significantly solidifies its playoff status.
The Packers’ offense has been clicking on virtually – and we say virtually because there’s still room for improvement – during the last three weeks.
During that span, the Packers’ racked up 38 points against the Niners, 30 against the Dolphins and 31 last week against the Lions.
That, folks, is a robust 33 points a game.
The two biggest weapons in the Packers artillery – quarterback Jordan Love and running back Josh Jacobs – have been masterful in recent weeks.
Love, after a rough and injury-hampered start to the season, threw five touchdown passes and zero interceptions in the last three games.
Jacobs rushed for seven touchdowns in that three-game stretch. Nor did he fumble in extending his non-fumble streak to 11 games.
But Jacobs and Love will be severely challenged by the Seahawks defense, which has arguably been as good as any defense in the league during its current four-game winning streak.
The Seahawks surrendered 21 or fewer points in that span: 17 points to the Niners, 6 and 18 points to the Cardinals and 21 to the Giants.
Seahawks defense vs. Packers offense. It has all the makings of a highly competitive and tight game, one that could be determined by a Brandon McManus field goal.
Prediction: Packers 27, Seahawks 24.
