Packers’ offense will trump Vikings’ defense

Leading up to today’s game between the Packers and Vikings, the Packers and the Wisconsin media have been extolling the virtues of Vikings coach Mike Zimmer and understandably so.

Zimmer is one of the NFL’s masterminds when it comes to defense. Not surprisingly, the Vikings have one of the best defenses in the league again this season. They have allowed 93 points in five games, the fourth-fewest in the league.

But while the Vikings possess a stingy defense, they also possess an inept offense. They have scored a meager 27 points in their last two outings against Chicago (20 points) and Detroit (7).

The Packers’ offense, meanwhile, isn’t a smooth-running machine yet, but it’s still quite explosive. The Packers have accumulated 137 points this season, a total surprised by only two other teams in the NFC: Philadelphia with 165 and Los Angeles with 152.

So, this game essentially boils down to Minnesota’s defense and Green Bay’s offense.

Prediction: Packers 23, Vikings 20.
